We are getting closer and closer to the holiday season and there is so much to do. The weekend after Thanksgiving is my time to pull out all of our Christmas decorations and begin the task of making my home holiday friendly. It is a lot of work but I love it! This year my daughter is four and I decided that she was old enough to enjoy an advent calendar. A fellow demonstrator who was part of the 2014-2015 Artisan Design Team posted on the Stampin’ Up! website with this fabulous Tree Advent Calendar. I loved it the moment I saw it. Since it did not match my Christmas décor (hot pink, purples, whites and silver) I decided to try my hand at this but in my own perspective.
Using the Tiny Treat Boxes (these measure 2″ x 2″ x 2″ and come in a set of 25) and hot glue gave me my structure of the tree. The layers are 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 1. Each box opens so I can fill each day of December, up until Christmas, with a little gift or treat for my little girl. I’ve covered each box with 1.75″ squares of Whisper White Cardstock and then layered the white with patterns the Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum and the in the same size.
The number tags were made with the Silver Glimmer Paper punched with the 1.75″ Circle Scallop Punch, layered with Whisper White Cardstock punched with the 1.5″ Circle Punch. The embossed numbers are from the Birthday Yay Photopolymer Stamp Set using Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The box on top I had to make using Pootles 2x2x2 Cube Fold Flat Favour Box
I also decked out this tree with the small Metallic Foil Doilies, Snowflake Element’s and the Iced Rhinestone Embellishments. Each snowflake was inked with the White Stazon Ink using a sponge dauber. To top off this gorgeous tree, I used the Silver 1/8″ Ribbon and the Silver 5/8″ Satin Ribbon.
The wooden circular base I got from Michael’s that I painted white and wrapped with Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. The top of the base was a little small so I cut out a larger circle using chipboard that I also painted in white.
